Clinical Study of Seventeen Cases of Wilms¢¥ Tumor

Abstract
Seventeen cases of the Wilms¢¥ tumor were clinically reviwed, which were operated at the Presbyterian Medical Center, Jeonju, Korea during 10 years from February 1963 through February 1973.


The results were as follows.


1. The incidence of the Wilms¢¥ tumor was one to 400 patients of pediatric patients in same period.


2. The average age at onset was 3 year of life.


3. Sex distribution was more in male than female and the ratio was 12 : 5.


4. Predominant symptomes were in order of palpable mass (100%), and Distension (88. 2%).


5. The average duration of symptom & sign was about 3 months.


6. The most useful diagnostic prodedure was IVP.


7. The treatment of choice seems to be a combination of Surgery & Chemotherapy or a Combin-


ation of Surgery & Radiation or a Combination of Surgery & Radiation & Chemotherapy.


8. Chemotherapy was more effective on multiple course than in a single case in therapy.


9. The most important prognostic factor was age.
